On the left side of the
main navigation menu you will see a field for performing "quick"
searches and above it a link to the Advanced Search functions.
(figure 1).

Figure 1
When you go to the
Advanced Search page at the top you will see the form you will fill
out for performing an advanced search. Below you will see
instructions and descriptions as to how to complete the form and
perform an advanced search. The form itself is divided into
four main areas (figure 2).

Figure 2
You can search for
your item by looking in only the item and catalog number or you
can search for your item by only looking through the product names
and description. If you are searching the names and descriptions
you will see fields available to you like the ones in figure 2.
If you are searching the item and catalog numbers you will see a
form similar to the one in figure 2 but the 'exact phrase' and 'excluding
words' field will be disabled.
Through these
three fields you can search more of the product information and make
your search more specific. If you enter words in the 'Any of
these words' filed then the search will look for any of the words
(i.e. if you enter "clear bandage", the search will look for 'clear'
and 'bandage'). You can also specify an exact phrase (i.e. if
you enter "clear bandage" it will look for 'clear bandage' [just
like in the quick search function]). You can also have the
search narrow the results by excluding items with certain words
(i.e. if you enter 'ace' then the results will exclude any results
that have the word 'ace' in the name or description).
You can also limit
your search to a specify category and/or subcategory. Simply
select your category and the page will reload with all of the
subcategories for that category. If you would like to narrow
your search even further you can select a subcategory.
Lastly, you can
specify how many items show up on the results page. Just pull
down the list and select from 10 items per page to 60 items per
page.
